Rachel and I will be splitting the cost of our trip and hopefully these charts will serve as a starting point for what you can expect in different areas of the world. You can cross-reference our expenditures with our diaries to get an idea of how much we were “roughing it.” We hope this will help people who are worried about how much money they will need.

Guidelines

1. Our daily budget is $60, per day, for both of us ($30 each).

2. We don’t include Long-distance travel costs in our Daily budget (accommodation is).

3. We have another category in our budget book called “Other Costs” (medical stuff, snorkel gear, visa extensions) which are included in the “Total Spent” but not Daily.

4. “Nights Surfed” means = Nights we were couchsurfing. (What’s Couchsurfing?)
