Vietnam is an intense place. It’s amazing how much Rachel and I were able to see and do in 9 short days. We saw Hanoi, Halong Bay, Mui Ne, Ho Chi Minh City, and the Cu Chi Tunnels (Highly Recommended).

 

At this point in our travels, we had never experienced the type of aggressive sales and scamming that can be found in places like Hanoi. We found it very difficult to meet someone whose ultimate goal wasn’t to put their hands in our pockets.

 

We left Vietnam with amazing pictures and experiences but couldn’t help but have a distaste for the way we were treated.

 

History hasn’t been easy on Vietnam. They have defeated four world powers in a hundred years. It has left some scars. The communistic rule has been exceedingly harsh on generation after generation of families who sided with America during the Vietnam War. They are deprived of the rights to higher education and meaningful employment.

 

Would we recommend traveling there - “Yes!” .... Are we going back? ... “Nope.”
