Krabi will always have a soft-spot in our hearts because we spent our first Thai vacation there during the Christmas of 2004 when the epic tsunami hit their coast. We had a blast checking out every little temple and hot spring in the area while I was riding a motorbike on public roads for the first time in my life. We had an amazing time.

 

This time around we used Krabi as a place to bunker down and relax for a couple days. We did get out on a motorbike however. The accomodation is very reasonable, well appionted, and we were spoiled for good options in the ($15) price range.

 

People use Krabi to jump off to the popular Railey Beach that Lonely Planet calls “The most beautiful in Thailand” and it’s also a good base for a day trips out to mangroves, rock climbing,  elephant riding, or Ao Nang Beach.
