
Shanghai has a uniqueness about it compared to the other cities we visited in China. The streets are narrower, the buildings have more charm, and it felt cleaner. We were told that the pollution is usually intolerable, but we lucked out again, and on the second day rain and winds blew it away to reveal a beautiful city.
What We Learned
1. Shanghai feels metropolitan and modern.
2. The European influences have given certain neighborhoods a lot of charm.
3. There is construction everywhere.
4. The Bund is worth seeing but way overrated.
5. The Chinese Sex Museum is not here, regardless of what the Lonely Planet says.
6. We liked it more than Beijing.
