What first appeared to be a quaint little town on the outside of Shanghai turned into a busy city. It was hard for us to get a bearing on our location because the streets looked almost identical. We came for the legendary gardens and wanted to use this city as base for a day trip to Tongli. Overall, it was a pleasant town by Chinese standards.

What We Leaned

 

1. Don’t lose “hard to find” electrical equipment or cables in China because trying to explain and find what you need will be a challenge.

 

2. The gardens are worth the entrance costs.

 

3. The #1 bus seems to go everywhere but we think there might be two different routes with the same number.

 

4. Tiger Pagoda is definitely worth the short trip out of the central area.

 

5. Good luck finding a restaurant with pictures or English.
