Dumaguete has a nice sea front area close to the harbor that is lined with western restaurants and the hawkers that prey upon them with sunglasses and DVD’s. We used this city as a stepping stone a few times during our stay in and around the Negros. The center of the city is easy to navigate and we were able to stock up on supplies, eat McDonalds, get cash, get some internet access and enjoy some A/C every time we came through.

On a side note, I was able to have my traditional “UFC wing morning” in Dumaguete with the help of a popular restaurant called “Shakeys” and the TV in our place. Awesome.

What We Learned

- Try to book ahead because we had trouble finding a room.

- Don’t even bother with the pizza anywhere. It’s all disappointing.

- When going to any supermarket, don’t bring a bag because you’ll have to check it with security and the queues were long.

- There are international ATM’s here.

- A chain restaurant called “Shakey’s” has “decent” buffalo wings. (Read: They actually resemble them.)
