Cambodia

Sihanoukville is Cambodia’s beach capital. The city itself is a place that I wouldn’t want to go exploring at night, but Serendipity Beach is a great place to fall off the grid. Big pompazon chairs are set up in front of countless, gritty little shacks that will sell you a variety of decent cheap food, cocktails, 50 cent draft beers, and joints.

The waves were big enough to be fun, and it was great to just hang out with our friends from Korea. This is a super relaxed place and I would definitely recommend hanging out there for a few days if you are already in Cambodia.

Some expat locals told us that Occheuteal Beach was even better, but we could never sum up the motivation to make it over there. :)

What We Learned

- It’s really weird how the businesses and locals seem unwilling to clean up the streets that service Serendipity. By clean up, I mean there is litter everywhere. A few trash bags and dollars could get the job done in a day or two but there seems to be very little organization.

- The rooms we found were moldy and dank. We ended up spending a little more than we expected and practically owned this place –  Diamond Beach Hotel – It was nice, and had two great shared balconies.
